Hunting Sika with Kiwi Safaris

A trip to the North Island will enable you to include sika, rusa and sambar deer.  These three deer species are all of Asian origin, preferring the more temperate conditions of the northern island of New Zealand.

We can offer some of the world's greatest sika hunting at New Zealand's home of sika, as we have access to the exclusive Poronui property in the North Island of New Zealand. Although originally from Asia, sika were first released in New Zealand from Woburn Abbey Park in England in 1905 onto Poronui.

Sika can be hunted from late February until September. Local hunters prize the sika stag because it is alert and elusive, and exciting to hunt. Antlers are generally 4x4 and make a very attractive trophy.
