The Rooney Group

The Rooney Group is owned by Gary Rooney, who has been closely involved with Kiwi Safaris for a number of years. Gary’s main business interests lie in the civil contracting industry and he is also a committed advocate of the environment.  His group of companies has achieved ISO 14001 standards and demonstrates sound environmental management and continual improvement of environmental performance.

In addition to construction, Gary has widespread farming and land interests and owns high country properties Stew Point (8,000 acres) in South Canterbury, and Cloudy Range (23,000 acres) near Marlborough.

The Rooney property at Stew Point has been a fundamental part of the Kiwi Safaris operation for several years, providing a high quality lodge and magnificent hunting in the scenic Rangitata River catchment.  

It was a natural progression for Gary to become more closely involved in Kiwi Safaris and he is now the sole owner.  All other aspects of the business including guides, lodges and hunting properties remain unchanged, with the seamless transition unnoticeable to clients or suppliers.  The integration of the Rooney properties with the existing Kiwi Safaris places the company in a great position to ride out the current economic downturn and go from strength to strength as the situation improves.
