The first cold southerly of the year saw temperatures drop alarmingly, and the first snowfall on the higher slopes. While the snow did not last long, it may have been enough to encourage the stags as they have been roaring spasmodically for a few days now. Looks good for the rut this year!
It was also a good sign for the first hunters of the season. Father and son team Jim and Trevor Sexton hunted out of Stew Point, and got the season off to a great start with a magnificent stag each. Both Jim and Trevor hunted with bow – a great achievement! Well done to guys and great effort from their guide James Mitchell.
Let the rut begin!
